Beskrivning

Krister Hägglund drew inspiration from photographer Edla Viklund in his endeavor to capture Missenträsk, famous author Sara Lidman's hometown. Now, the Skellefteå Museum is exhibiting some of Krister's photographs alongside those taken by Edla over a century ago.

Photographer Krister Hägglund captured Sara Lidman's hometown, Missenträsk, in 2021, resulting in the exhibition "Hjortronlandet" (Cloudberry Country). Part of the exhibition featured portraits of the locals in Missenträsk, set against a painted backdrop, inspired by photographer Edla Viklund.

Edla Viklund was born in 1894 in the village of Häbbersfors, approximately 25 km northwest of Skellefteå. The exact time when she started photographing is uncertain, but Skellefteå Museum's image archive contains over 70 photographs attributed to her. Many of these are portraits taken around the Häbbersfors area around 1910. The background often remains the same: a painted backdrop featuring pillars and a railing with turned posts.

From April 7th to November 24th, 2024, the photo exhibition "Edla and Krister - A Background Story" will be on display at the Skellefteå Museum. You can find it on the second floor of the museum. Welcome!
